Manufacturer's Warranty Residential Environment: ten years on frame. Parts and electronics are covered for one year. Labor is covered for six months from date of original purchase. About Recumbent Exercise Bikes Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out. The term recumbent literally means "lying down." Exercising in a recumbent or reclining position allows the user to have full ergonomic back support, without causing strain on the arms, neck and shoulders, all of which can be common effects of using an upright bicycle. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

Solid Performance for the Price December 26, 2009 Mr. Timothy Egan (Portland, OR United States) I purchased the Schwinn 203 Recumbent Exercise Bike about 6 months ago from the date of this review. I have been very pleased with it and recommend it as an addition to a home gym.
Once ordered Amazon shipped the bike and it arrive within 7-10 days. It came in a standard box and was torn some, more than likely due to Fed Ex than Amazon. Regardless the bike itself was not damaged in anyway. The box is large and heavy. If you need to get it upstairs or downstairs in a basement two people will have to carry it. The bike and it's components were packaged well. Once unpacked there's some assembly required but is reasonably easy. It took me roughly 45 minutes to put the bike together. Everything you need to put it together comes with it. I found it very handy because the tools, bolts, nuts, etc., came in a plastic sealed cardboard sheet with drawings explaining what each part was and where it went on the bike. I wish other products that needed assembly came in a similar manner. As mentioned assemble was quiet easy. One thing that was tricky is the electrical cord that connects the computer base with the electrical unit inside the bike. Just follow the instructions and you shouldn't have much of a problem.
Once assembled I found it to be of very good quality. Very solid parts and well crafted for the price. I was worried that it would be a "you get what you pay for" type of product at the price I paid but this wasn't the case. The computer is not "high tech" but it does the job. My wife and I use this bike and it's great because we can program in our own specific routines to follow. The seat is very comfortable although it doesn't look it at first. The heart rate sensors on the side handles work well however I think from my calibration they're on the lower end +-10BPM when displayed. Even so,
still very useful to gauge where your heart rate is during your workout while using the bike. The pedals are large and the straps work well for keeping your feet connected even during some high rate pedaling. The seat adjusts well, secures well so there's no movement when locked into place, thus keeping the seat from moving side to side and causing noise or discomfort. I would estimate the bike would work fine for someone at a height from 5'ft to 6' comfortably. Any taller and i think you would be able to use the bike but it would be "cramped" and you wouldn't be in a comfortable position. One thing that I really enjoy about this bike is it produces very little noise, something I was worried about in a recumbent bike.
Finally, I have been using the bike around 3-5 days per week for the last 6 months (average 3 days/week) and it hasn't had one problem or breakdown. Still running very quiet and smooth. I'm very happy with this purchase and feel I received a recumbent bike for less but equal to something of higher caliber.
A good choice. October 16, 2009 J. Nally (Albany, NY) We bought this a few month ago and was very pleased. Assembly was easier than I had expected and all the tools that you need are included. All of the parts were there which surprised me as the box was pretty well battered from the delivery company. The bike works well and so far there have been no problems. It is heavy. I was very impressed with the quality seeing that it was made in the People's Republic of China which is well known for shoddy work. A bit over-priced for a Chinese product but I guess that's to be expected from the new world trade economy we're faced with.
It won't make you get on it, however, but once you do you will get a good workout.
Beware Of Missing Step September 14, 2009 B. Vaughan (Bay Area, CA USA) I agree with all the good points given for this exercise bike. It is a great product with countless options. I was amazed how quiet it is, even when making resistance changes.
My Assembly Manual, P/N PM2590, omitted Step 7 under Assembly Stage 2 on Page 9. After assembly, I was left with two screws, two washers, and a rectangular block with three holes through it. The installation of these parts was illustrated in the diagram as pointed out after a call to the manufacturer. I explained that without the written Step 7 which was missing, there was nothing to lead me to the installation of these parts. I explained that I was unwilling to remove the side covers of the four bolts, remove them and then slide out the seat rail assembly from the main console in order to install the omitted parts. I told the agent that I would use the block as a paper weight. There is no safety issue with the omission of this part.
Good Bike, little shaky August 19, 2009 emonk (NC, USA) Let me start off by saying this is a good bike. Right off the bat, I'm happy with it, and I don't think I'd get a different one. It's very sturdy, very strong (plenty of resistance). I don't use the programs, just manual, so I can't comment on them, but it remembers my manual routine fine. Very simple to use, and the display is actually useful (heart rate, speed, mileage, etc...).
It's not exactly silent. Quieter than a wind-resistance bike by far, but it's a little shaky. I'm still happy with it, I think maybe the housing for the flywheel just isn't quite as well secured as it could be. The frame and bike itself are plenty sturdy. I don't feel at all worried about pedaling hard or fast.
Assembled this thing is big, and heavy. You're not really going to want to move it from room to room. It is about four feet long and two wide or so. I've had it for about a month now, done fifty miles or so on it. I'm confident it'll last a long time.
Putting it together was complicated, but the guide and the parts were easy to work with. The parts are all separated out by step, so it's very, very easy to tell which are used at which point. This impressed me quite a bit, great job Schwinn! I'm pretty good with my hands, and I put it together in under an hour.
Great Exercise bike August 18, 2009 Robert H. Staley Jr. So far the bike has worked fine. It arrived in great condition, and was fairly easy to assemble.
Has a very good work out for my purposes
