Comfortable but expected a little more durability August 17, 2010

I've owned these shoes for about 10 months now (October 2009). During that time, I've discovered on my own that these shoes are especially made for workouts, and light to moderate use, and I'll explain. I have a tendency to abuse my shoes, since I am extremely active (train with weights 5 days a week, bike nearly every day for around 2 hours). These shoes stood up to a good amount of punishment, while giving me good comfort. The lacing system is durable, as compared to those fabric loops commonly used in sneakers, which tend to break easily. I ordered a half size larger as recommended, but there was still room to spare inside my sneaker, so I think my exact size would have been sufficient. I've worn these sneakers almost every day.
However, a year hasn't even passed, and the inner sole is rolling up inside my shoe and dissolving by the minute due to the friction. The front tip of the shoe is discolored due to the amount of scratches that have accumulated and scratched off the black color. Since I ride my bike, these sneakers have had to deal with the metal pedals of my mountain bike, which have a very rough surface for gripping purposes. Because I've ridden my bike with these shoes for a while, there is now a hole literally at the bottom of my shoe that goes directly through to my foot. The only thing between the ground and my foot is the now-ragged insole, which as I said, is dissolving day-by-day. I would consider getting a new insole, but given the "hole", I may just have to get a new pair of shoes altogether. I rate this 4 stars, given that I've put these through a lot of punishment for as long as I have, and have been relatively comfortable the whole time. But for something that I initially thought was an all-around shoe, I was hoping that they could last at least a year. I recommend this to people who are more careful and less active than I am.
